Originally a native of Ohio, Mike moved to Laredo in 2007 to pursue his bachelors in Fitness & Sports at TAMIU and play for the Dustdevils Baseball and Golf teams. During his senior year, Mike joined the golf staff at Laredo Country Club to learn more about the industry. Upon graduation in 2011, he entered the PGM program to pursue his Class A PGA membership while working as an Assistant Professional under Jeremiah Cabrera, PGA. After being elected to PGA membership in the fall of 2016, Mike was named the 6th Head Golf Professional of Laredo Country Club. In the summer of 2020, Mike was promoted as the 7th General Manager of Laredo Country Club. He is currently pursuing his Certified PGA Professional status through the PGA of America as well as his Certified Club Manager certification through the Club Managers Association of America. Most importantly, Mike shares his joy with his beautiful family, wife Dr. Mery Cortes and their two young children Claire & Michael.

His most recent role was as First Assistant Golf Professional at San Antonio Country Club, where he was elected to PGA membership last year. We are proud of his journey that led him here, and we are thrilled to work with Richey and the rest of the team to create an exciting future for golf at Laredo Country Club.

Rudy is a PGA Class A Director of Instruction in the Southern Texas Section. His clients have qualified for the World Jr. Championships, Collegiate Championships, multiple United States Amateur Championships, and Tour qualifying stages. Multitude certifications and education including Level II certified by the Titleist Performance Institute, Kwon3D Biomechanics Level II, Forces & Motion Certified, Flightscope Certified, Swing Catalyst Level 1, Discover Golf Level 1 Certified, CAPTO Precision Putting Level 2 Certified, and Completed the Penn State Biomechanics of Golf Instructor Program.

Mike has been Director of Tennis since 1993 at Laredo Country Club. He has a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Also, Mike has a Bachelors of Science in Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Before teaching tennis full-time, Mike worked a manager at K-Mart and was a high school social studies teacher/coach in Wisconsin. Since 1981, Mike has taught and directed tennis programs in Brookfield, WI, Wausau, WI, and Peoria, IL. Mike has developed many players both juniors and adults.
His number one priority was for them to enjoy the lifetime sport of tennis. He has trained many juniors who have played college tennis and have become full-time tennis professionals and coaches. Our goal at Laredo Country Club Tennis Department is to have “the premiere family focused tennis program in Texas!”

Ricardo, brings over 35 years of experience as a high-performance coach, racquets director, and coaching world class professionals. He joins us from Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Florida. Ricardo has played 2 grand slams, and he has led tennis programs at prestigious clubs around the world. Ricardo's leadership, visibility on the courts, with strong focus on member-engagement.

Homer has been a tennis professional at The Laredo Country Cub for over twenty-five years. Homer played college tennis at Laredo Community College and Texas A+I, Kingsville. Prior to teaching full-time The Laredo Country Club, Homer taught physical education, computers, and coached various sports for fifteen years at St. Peter’s Memorial School. Homer was ranked #2 in Men’s 4.5 singles in 1999. He has coached various teams of ladies and men team tennis. Homer has had 4 ladies’ 2.5 team win the Texas Sectionals and advanced to Nationals in 2008, 2014, 2018, 2022.

Mateus has been a tennis professional at The Laredo Country Club since November 2021. He is from Brazil, and he played JUCO tennis at Laredo Community College and then played for Cameron University in Oklahoma. Mateus has over ten years of tennis teaching experience and brings lots of energy and positivity to The Laredo Country Club tennis program.

Wagner joined The Laredo Country Club Professional Tennis Staff in April 2022. Wagner is from Brazil and is university graduate with a major in health and physical education. He has worked with many tennis players from juniors to adults, along with many top touring pros from Brazil, Beatriz Haddad Maia #15 WTA who trained with Wagner when she was ten years old. Wagner is also a certified nutrition and fitness trainer. Wagner Nascimento will be a huge asset to our professional team and members of The Laredo Country Club.

Mili brings high energy with member-focused enthusiasm! Mili was ranked #1 in Argentina in Girls’ 16 and 18’s. She has lots of experience playing WTA, ITF tournaments and teaching many ITF players in Argentina. Last summer, she was the Assistant Director of Racquet Sports, at the Club at 3 Creek, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She has worked at high level clubs in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
